MAN NOT TO CHANGE GOD'S WORD Deuteronomy 4:2 “Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.” Deuteronomy 12:29-32 “29 When the LORD thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land; 30Take heed to thyself that thou not be snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? Even so will I do likewise. 31Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods. 32What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it. Proverbs 30:5-6 “5Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. 6Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” Revelation 22:18-19 “18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19And if any man shall take away from the words of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” Matthew 15:9 “But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” NEW COVENANT / LAW Hebrews 7:12-14 “12For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. 13For He of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar. 14For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.” Note: Silence from God does NOT authorize JEWISH CHRISTIANS OBSERVING THE LAW OF MOSES (and holy days) Galatians 4:10 “Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.” (Leviticus 23:1-44; 25:1-13; Numbers 10:10; 28:1-29) Galatians 5:3-4 “3For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. 4Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.” Romans 14:15 “One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.” Note: This chapter focuses on judgement/condemnation and uses one action of the congregation (Jews still observing days and eating restrictions) as an example. God appeared to be lenient, to an extent, during the “transition period” from the crucifixtion to the destruciton of Jerusalem. See Acts 16, Galatians 2. EDR Colossians 2:16-17 “16Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.”
